Conditional sentences exercises

Conditional Sentence : If যুক্ত Sentence কে Conditional Sentence বলা হয় । In case, Unless, Provided that ইত্যাদি শব্দের মাধ্যমেও Conditional Sentence তৈরি হতে পারে । Conditional যুক্ত Sentence কে দুটি অংশে ভাগ করা হয় । প্রথম অংশে শর্ত দেওয়া থাকে যাকে বলা হয় If Clause এবং দ্বিতীয় অংশে Result বা ফলাফল দেওয়া থাকে যাকে Main Clause বলে । Conditional Sentence চার প্রকার । যথা :
(i) Zero Conditional
(ii) First Conditional
(iii) Second Conditional
(iv) Third Conditional

Zero Conditional : যদি Conditional যুক্ত Sentence এর দুটো অংশেই Present Tense বা Past Tense ব্যবহার করা হয় তবে তাকে Zero Conditional বলে । চিরন্তন সত্য, বৈজ্ঞানিক সত্য, অভ্যাসগত সত্য ইত্যাদি ক্ষেত্রে Zero Conditional ব্যবহার করা হয় । গঠনপ্রণালি :
(i) If + Present simple + Present simple
(ii) Present simple + If + Present simple
(iii) If + Past simple + Past simple
উদাহরণ :
(i) If you heat water to 100 degree celsius, it boils.
(ii) Water boils, if you heat water to 100 degree celsius.
(iii) If we asked him to come with us, he always said no.

First Conditional : First Conditional এ If Clause এ Present Indefinite এবং Main Clause এ Future Indefinite ব্যবহার করা হয় । First Conditional মূলত অনিশ্চিত ভবিষ্যৎ অর্থ প্রদান করে অর্থাৎ ঘটনাটি ঘটতেও পারে আবার নাও ঘটতে পারে । গঠনপ্রণালি :
(i) If + Present Indefinite + Future Indefinite
(ii) Future Indefinite + If + Present Indefinite
উদাহরণ :
(i) If it rains, we will play football.
(ii) we will play football If it rains.

Second Conditional : Second condditional এ প্রথম অংশে Past Tense হলে পরবর্তী অংশে Would/Could/Might বসে অথবা প্রথমে Would/Could/Might হলে শেষে Past Tense হয় । Second condditional এর মাধ্যমে ভবিষ্যৎ সম্ভাবনা বা বর্তমান অসম্ভাবনা অর্থ প্রদান করে । গঠনপ্রণালি :
(i) If + Past + Would/Could/Might/Should
(ii) Would/Could/Might/Should + If + Past
এখানে উল্লেখ্য যে If Clause এ যদি Be Verb আসে তাহলে তা সর্বদাই Were হবে । উদাহরণ :
(i) If I were you, I could handle the situation more carefully.
(ii) I should kept quiet if I were you.

Third Conditional : Third Conditional এ প্রথম অংশে Past Perfect থাকলে অপর অংশে Would have/Could have/Might have/Should have বসে । আবার প্রথম অংশে Would have/Could have/Might have/Should have থাকলে পরবর্তী অংশে Past Perfect হয় । বাক্যটি যদি Had দ্বারা শুরু হয় তাহলে প্রথমে Past Perfect ও পরবর্তী অংশে Would have/Could have/Might have/Should have বসে । Third Conditional এর শর্তগুলো কখনো পূরণ হয় না । গঠনপ্রণালি :
(i) If + Past Perfect + Would have/Could have/Might have/Should have + v3
(ii) Would have/Could have/Might have/Should have + v3 + If + Past Perfect
(ii) Had + v3 + Would have/Could have/Might have/Should have + v3
উদাহরণ :
(i) If I had known you were coming, I would have gone to the station.
(ii) What would have happened if the bridge had broken.
(iii) Had I seen him, I would have given him the phone number.
