The article exercises

The কে বলা হয় Definite Article. কোন Noun কে নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝালে তার পূর্বে The বসে বসে । যেমন-
(i) The earth, The river, The moon, The sun etc.

কোন Noun দুইবার ব্যবহার করলে তখন তা নির্দিষ্ট হয়ে যায় এবং সেই Noun এর পূর্বে The ব্যবহার করা হয় । যেমন-
(i) There is a tree in the garden. The tree is an oak.

সমষ্টিবাচক দেশের নামের পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The UK, The USA.

সমগ্র জাতি বোঝাতে Adjective এর পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The poor are always neglected.

সমষ্টি বোঝাতে সকল পেশার পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The teacher is the maker of nation.

জাতি বোঝাতে Man এবং Woman এর পূর্বে The বসে না । যেমন-
(i) Man is mortal.

ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনার পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The liberation war of Bangladesh.

জাতি বোঝাতে ভাষার পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The Bengali are clever.

যে কোন পদবীর পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The director, The chairman etc.

Superlative degree এর পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) He is the best boy in the class.

দিকের পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The south, the west etc.

সকল ধর্মগ্রন্থ, মহাকাব্য, ট্রেন, জাহাজ, নদী, সাগর, মহাসাগর, পর্বতমালা, দীপপুঞ্জ, মরুভূমি ইত্যাদির পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The Homer is an epic.

পৃথিবীতে একটিমাত্র আছে এমন বস্তুর সামনে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The Padma bridge, The Tajmahal etc.

First, Second, Third, Last ইত্যাদির পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The first boy, The last girl etc.

সমগ্র জাতি বোঝাতে Singular noun এর পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The dog is a faithful animal.

কোন Uncountable noun কে নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝাতে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The gold of the ring is very bright.

কোন বিশেষ শ্রেণীর মধ্যে তুলনা বোঝালে Proper noun এর পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
i) Kazi Nazrul Islam is the Shakespeare of Bangladesh.

কোন কিছুর বিশেষ অংশ বোঝাতে Adjective এর পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) He entered the thick of the forest.

Comparative এর পূর্বে Adverb হিসেবে The বসে । যেমন-
(i) The more we have, the more we want.

কোন প্রদেশের নামের বর্ণানামূলক ভৌগোলিক অর্থ থাকলে তার পূর্বে The বসে । যেমন-
i) The West Bengal is a province of India.

কতগুলো Idiomatic phrases এ The বসে । যেমন-
i) His fame is on the wane.
(ii) At last the beast in him got the upper hand.

'The' Singular, Plural, Countable, Uncountable সব ধরনের Noun এর সাথে বসতে পারে । যেমন-
i) The boy is very talent.
ii) The boys are very talent.
(iii) The information is correct.
